Trois musiques pour endormir les enfants d'un compositeur
      triptych for piano, 2011

Since my meeting with the Brazilian virtuoso pianist Jose Eduardo Martins on the Net in circumstances that I've described in the critical work made on his pianistic work, Une réflexion sur la discographie du pianiste brésilien José Eduardo MARTINS, a great friendship was born between us who materialized by a great correspondence where we speak about everything without limits… and especially about music, inexhaustible subject. Then by his order of a work in homage to the portuguese composer Francisco de Lacerda and its splendid and universally known work  Thirty-six stories to entertain the children of an artist for 7 concerts in Portugal (Coimbra, Lisboa, Tomar, Évora, Lagos, Braga, Povoa de Varzim) in November 2011 where mine will be created in company of this piano masterpiece and Eurico Carrapatoso's one, portuguese composer for whom I have the greatest admiration.

The José Eduardo Martins'order coincided with this marvellous period… and so exhausting to have an small infant at home -my son Tom has 16 month to date- where only spaces of relaxation are those when he sleeps with closed fists. The occasion was too beautiful to miss associating the homage to Francisco of Lacerda with the reality of the moment while composing musics to send children to sleep (not only those of the composer) while making a wink to the portuguese composer's masterpiece who can't pass unperceived in the world of piano works so much content is also brilliant as title.

Hoping that my new one brings as much pleasure to the pianist and to the public as the first which inspired it.

Public reception was enthusiastic in Portugal. Jose Eduardo Martins summed up in one of his last novembre 2011 articles in his blog his impessions about the last recital tour concert in Povoa de Varzim : "The Eurico Carrapatoso's works, who was present, as the François Servenière's three had rave reviews. These are really beautiful compositions. A Russian pianist and teacher said that it is not necessary to make incomprehensible music to please to "intelligentsia" because here we noticed the structural organization of the relevant works and their integration with the public, that was very receptive".

Musicians have an additional possibility to send to sleep their children : to play to them some music. They would have twists to be deprived them ! This photo was taken by Elise Breux during the finalization of the music in homage to Francisco de Lacerda.
It makes already its effect...

A week before the first of this series of Coimbra recitals, José Eduardo has organized several concerts at home in São Paulo to test his program. Was present at the last his friend painter Luca Vitali who saw the photo above the partition. The following Monday morning I received in my mailbox via José Eduardo's one the beautiful work below... I was very touched by this gesture and the Luca Vitali's graphic talents which I still admire the expression in the Jose Eduardo's blog and in the painter's personal website.
Infinite thanks!

At the concert in Evora, the 11th, November 2011, the surprise came from one of his best friends, the famous Portuguese architect and photographer then arrived unannounced, Antonio Menéres, who dedicated to him the magnificent picture below, also in honor of the four composers who made this program: Francisco de Lacerda, Eurico Carrapatoso, Carlos Seixas and myself. Wonderful inspiration and great gifts to keep throughout life.
Infinite thanks!
